WHY WE DEVELOPED FRESH FAMILIES
In addition to being a founder and Executive Editor of JamieGeller.com, Tamar is a Registered Dietitian with a Masters in Health Studies. Tamar has more initials after her name than some British royalty, and when it comes to eating well, I trust her without hesitation. Over the past two years, Tamar and I have studied, tested and found a way for ALL of us to eat the foods we love, while maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle. It is this inspiration that helped us launch Fresh Families.
FRESH FAMILIES IS ABOUT MINDFUL EATING
We all know what it feels like to eat without thinking, finishing every meal overstuffed, and feeling incredibly guilty. How many times do I finish the leftovers on my childrens’ plates, after clearing my own (please, don’t answer). I don’t even think twice. It just happens. As a busy working mom of six, mindful eating—listening to the still small voice we all have inside our heads – is our guide to whether we are eating the right amount of the right foods. When we pay attention to what we eat and eat a little bit slower with more intentionality, we are able to fully enjoy the experience of eating and better maintain our ideal weight. It is this body positive reinforcement that transcends the number on a scale that will outlast all the fad diets. So how do we start to hear that voice? How do we make that small voice shout louder when we reach for seconds (or thirds)? It’s by learning more about the food we eat. When you understand calories, portion sizes, and nutritional information for every meal, you’ll begin to think of food in a brand new way.

We don’t obsess over every calorie, but we are sharing the nutritional information for every recipe, not so you become a slave to counting calories and fearful of fat or carbs, but so you start training yourself to make smarter, more thoughtful food choices. It is this new way of eating that can help you achieve ANY of your diet goals, whether it’s weight loss, managing diabetes, grappling with food allergies, or simply trying to have more strength, energy, and stamina for the many demands on our bodies and our time.
