Lachmagine is a Syrian meat pizza with a tang. They are made as mini pizzas and served as a small plate appetizer usually. If you leave near a Syrian grocery store you might be able to find whole wheat lachmagine pizza doughs, but if not I have found mini whole wheat pitas do the trick.
The tang comes from a tamarind sauce, tamerhindi, found in many Middle Eastern or Indian markets or on Amazon, if you can’t find it, try using pomegranate molasses or prune butter for the sweet and a extra lemon juice, but tamarind paste is not only unique and flavorful, but also good for you too.
Tamarind has been found to reduce inflammation, aid in digestion and even heal skin conditions.
